CWS Window Repair in Miami: What to Know First
CWS window repair in Miami typically runs between $145 and $420 for most common fixes, and we complete the large majority of CWS jobs in a single visit. We’re an independent CWS service provider, which means we repair CWS windows without being tied to the manufacturer’s service network or its scheduling delays. If you own a CWS window or door that’s fogged, binding, leaking, or hard to lock, this page tells you what’s actually going on and what it costs to fix. Call (786) 442-1123 and a live person answers, any hour, any day.
How CWS Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
CWS windows are built for Florida wind loads, but Miami’s salt air and summer humidity expose specific weak points that show up again and again in our repair calls. Here’s what we see most often, by series, and what we do about it.
- CWS 5600 Series single-hung and horizontal rollers: The original roller assemblies on the 5600 series have unshielded bearings. After a few Miami wet seasons, the bearings corrode, the roller gets notchy, and the sash starts to drag or bind mid-track. We replace the roller assembly with a sealed-bearing unit and re-shim the track so the panel glides evenly. This one repair fixes about eighty percent of “hard to slide” complaints we hear on 5600s.
- CWS 988 Series casement cranks and hinges: The 988 casement operator hinge is a known sore spot. In salt-heavy neighborhoods like Brickell and Key Biscayne, the stainless hinge plate pits and the crank gear slips out of engagement. Rather than replacing the whole window, we install a new operator and hinge kit, re-bed the hinge with sealant, and re-align the sash so the lock points engage cleanly. Far cheaper than a full casement replacement.
- CWS 2200 Architectural Series picture windows losing argon: On 2200 series picture units, we regularly see seal failure at the lower corners of the insulated glass unit. That’s the fog you can’t wipe off. The fix is an IGU replacement with new low-E glass, but it has to be measured to the opening, not ordered from a label, because CWS field tolerances on the 2200 vary enough that a nominal-size IGU won’t seat right. We measure every opening by hand and have the IGU fabricated with the correct thickness and gas fill.
- Weep hole clogging on bottom-hung CWS models: CWS windows drain through small weep holes along the sill track. In Miami, those holes pack full of wind-blown sand, pollen, and salt residue, then water backs up inside the frame and rots the interior sill cap. The repair isn’t a glass job; it’s cleaning out the weep path, replacing any failed sill gasket, and applying a thin bead of butyl so the water goes outside where it belongs. Ten minutes of prevention beats a full sill rebuild.
- Lock and keeper misalignment across most CWS series: We see this on nearly every series from the 4500 to the 988. The lock cam and keeper drift out of alignment as Miami’s heat cycles expand and contract the vinyl, and the result is a window that shuts but won’t secure. We re-mortise the keeper, or replace the lock with a matching-profile CWS-compatible unit, and the sash closes flush and locks like it should. This is a security issue in Miami, not a convenience issue.
Our CWS Window Repair Process
Every CWS job follows the same route, from first call to final walkthrough, because the steps matter.
- 1
Call and diagnostic intake: A live person answers at (786) 442-1123. We ask what the window is doing, what series it is if you know it, and whether the problem is one unit or several. Most CWS owners know the problem, not the model number, and that’s fine.
- 2
On-site inspection and measurement: A background-checked, photo-badged technician arrives in uniform, and you’ll know their name and face before they step out of the truck. They inspect the sash, frame, glazing, rollers, hinge, and lock, then measure the opening with a digital caliper.
- 3
Written price before any work: You get a line-item price in writing. No verbal estimate, no “we’ll see once we open it up.” If the scope changes when we’re inside the frame, we stop and put the new number in writing before touching anything else.
- 4
Parts decision, OEM or better: For CWS windows under manufacturer warranty, we follow warranty-safe practices and recommend OEM parts. For out-of-warranty units, we’ll tell you honestly when a quality aftermarket roller or lock is the smarter money, and when only an OEM IGU will do.
- 5
The repair, the test, the cleanup: We do the repair, then operate the window through its full travel, check the lock engagement, run water over the exterior if it’s a sealing job, and wipe down the track and glass. We leave the room cleaner than we found it.
- 6
Written guarantee and the 365-Day Done Right Promise: Every CWS repair carries a written guarantee. If the repair fails within that window, a second visit is free. And the promise stands for a full year: if it is not done right, we make it right.

Why Miami Homeowners Call Hale Windows Miami for CWS Work
We’ve repaired thousands of CWS windows across Miami since 2009 as part of the Threshold Group. Our technicians know these products at the frame level, not just from a spec sheet, and Spencer Odell, our owner, has spent the better part of two decades running window and door work across South Florida, including projects on the condo towers lining Brickell Avenue. He learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, where the curriculum covered everything from frame fabrication to weatherproofing, skills that translate directly to Miami’s hurricane-code requirements. We don’t push one brand. We service eight professional lines, including PGT, CGI, ES Windows, and ECO Window Systems, so if a CWS repair isn’t the smart money, we’ll say so and show you the alternative. And every technician who knocks on your door is background-checked, identity-verified, photo-badged, and pre-announced by name and photo before the visit. You will know exactly who is at the door before you open it.
FAQs
Repairs by a third party do not automatically void a CWS manufacturer warranty, as long as the repair and the parts meet the original performance specifications, and we follow warranty-safe practices for that reason. We’ll use OEM parts on in-warranty units and keep documentation for your records. Call (786) 442-1123 and we’ll walk you through it.
Most common CWS parts for the 5600 and 988 series are in our local inventory or available within three to five business days. Custom fabricated insulated glass units for the 2200 series typically take one to two weeks, because each IGU is made to the exact opening measurement, not a catalog size. We’ll give you a firm parts timeline before you commit.
Repair almost always wins when the frame is sound, the glass is intact, and the sash moves freely once the roller or hinge is replaced. If the frame is water-swollen, the glazing seal has failed on multiple panes, or the window no longer meets current Miami-Dade wind code, replacement may be the better long-term spend. We carry multiple brands, so we won’t force a CWS replacement if another product fits better. Call (786) 442-1123 for an honest read.
Yes, for common roller, lock, and weep repairs we complete the large majority of CWS jobs in a single visit. Casement hinge rebuilds and insulated glass replacements require a second visit for fabricated parts. We’ll tell you upfront which one you have.
Our price is in writing before anyone picks up a tool, and if the scope changes, we stop and put the new number in writing before continuing. No surprises on the invoice. That’s the rule on every CWS job.
If your CWS window is fogged, binding, leaking, or won’t lock, call (786) 442-1123 for a free estimate. A live person answers, and a written price is yours before any work starts.
